The UFL kicks off- no pun intended- tomorrow night. I'm always interested in these new start up leagues. Dennis Green, Jim Fassal,(sp?) and another former NFL head coach...Jim Haslett(?) are head coaches. www.ufl-football.com/

Some good coaches and players in this leagues, but I can't see where it has much of a chance really. Every start up league except the AFL days (WFL, USFL, XFL) have all flopped. Even with good players and coaches. And this one is on at the same time as the NFL while the NFL is enjoying some good games, surprising teams and compelling stories. I just think the outlook looks bad for this. But I do wish it well. We'll keep an eye on it....

The WHA had four of its' teams absorbed into the NHL, so there's another that had a degree of long-term success.
