Respectfully, I have to disagree with this. Halladay has been trying to leave Toronto all year. He's made it quite clear he had no interest in remaining in Toronto no matter what they offered. He did finish out his season as a professional, but I think his 1 page ad is a slap in the face to Blue Jays fans. He just banked $60 million to go to the Phillies and say goodbye to Toronto. He couldn't have left Toronto in any more of a hurry. He demanded to be let go by Toronto. What did it cost him to take a full page ad to say "I appreciate the people in Toronto" when you just banked $60 million? Class Act? I remember when there was a massive lay-off at my last company I worked at before now. They let go of some of the best and brightest. The company was never the same in terms of human resources during my 3 years after this moment. It was quality debilitating event. My wife who had climbed their ladder of success and had numerous awards and decoration was way more qualified than myself was among those who got let go. The day before at the end of the day, the company gave those who would be let go a letter indicating they all meet at the local Holiday Inn business center the following morning. When asked what was taking place, they informed them it would be a special "brainstorming session". I knew something was funky about it because everything was so secretive and edgy. They gathered all the candidates in an assembly room and promptly told them all they had just been released. As they all sat in the room stunned and some even crying, the Director of the place I worked at took the podium and gave a speech where he said numerous things like.... "We appreciate you. We value your contributions. You made us a better place. We are a better company because you were here with us" Certainly the speech made them feel even worse. You value me, but you're showing me a pink slip. I think Halladay just did something very similar. His actions are....I can't wait to get out of Toronto.....but I value the people there. Just STFU and go you greedy bitch!
