The ones I would get are: War Of The Supermen, Dr Solar/Magnus, GI Joe, and maybe the Marvel book with Thor and Iron Man on the cover, maybe Shrek.

I missed out on last year's FCBD, but the year before I went to Zenos and it was purely accidental that it just happened to be FCBD, I had no idea when I walked in. He had a big table set up with stacks of each book. If he didn't have all of them, he sure did have a lot. He'd tell everyone "You can have 1 of everything". I had my wife with me, so we pretty much picked them all up twice. I'm going to try and remember this year and he'll be the place I go to and hope he's doing it right again this year.
As far as which ones, I'll pretty much take any of them. When it's free, I'm not too choosey. But if I had to list the books I most would want it would be....
Shrek, Bongo (love the Spidey homage), Irredeemable, Dark Horse Valiant book, War of the Supermen, Del Ray Showcase (nice cover), Green Hornet (Now comics seem like a good fit for them), Overstreet (have they ever done a comic before?), GI Joe (Nice Marvel Homage), The Tick, Sixth Gun and the two Radical comics.
Like I said, I'd take any of them. They're free, so who gives a shit?
I like the idea behind FCBD......I really don't think it works the way it's intended. But I do think for the real fans like ourselves, its a freebie day that we all kind of deserve because we've stuck by comics through thick and thin. Its like a good will thing. You can't expect them to give us all ASM #300s or something like that. So realistically, this seems to be a nice promotion. Even if most view it as a flop, I prefer to look at it a bit more positive.

I am kind of interested in this The Green Hornet is a reprint. So is the Irredeemable. In fact so is the Fearless Dawn. The GI Joe is a continuation of the Marvel series.

I just realized that even though Zeno's had a lot of books to choose from and he graciously let everyone have one of each, there is a lot from this list I didn't see. I'm kind of bummed about that, because there is a few on this list I see tonight that I didn't see today and if I would have seen them, I would have took them.
My understanding is FCBD is NOT free to the dealers and therefore I can understand a store not having a complete lot of the FCBD comics.
I still hear of other stores allowing a customer only to have one comic period! Which I think defeats the purpose. If you can allow someone to come to your store and walk out with a stack of comics for free....hey, who knows? But if you've got a bunch of books there and you say "You can only have one"......They're gonna be pissed about all the ones they weren't able to get.
I also want to say, instead of walking in and walking straight out, I did buy 2 books and spent a total of $13. Part of me just felt like it was the right thing to do. But damn if I didn't see a bunch of people pick up their stacks and walk right out.

Bob at Fantasy Escape foesn't do FCBD because Even he cannot get a deal on cost for those books. He has to purchase each issue. Which kind of sucks. I think they should be free period. Each retailer should get a limited amount of each issue. I always thought it was supposed to be a way to promote titles.

It's a way for Diamond to trick retailers into promoting comics they are too cheap to adequately promote. If I was a comic shop I'd give away all the extra copies of comics I got stuck with over the years. Get'em off the books and quit paying inventory penalties on stuff you can't sell. df1

I never even saw half of those books you posted in this thread. I might've grabbed the Lady Gaga book for laughs.

At first I was afraid to pick any of those up because they had price tags on them, but then I seen other people doing it and walking out and I knew then they all was free. I actually think if the dealers are NOT going to take part with the Official FCBD promotion, having stacks of their overstock and unsold books would be a good way to go. Like I said, I made out with about 18 books. I probably left a dozen or so on the table. I didn't want to look too greedy. But I picked up what I thought was the best of the lot. When I got home and seen this thread with all the covers I didn't see, I was a bit disappointed. There were honestly books I wanted on that list I didn't see at all. Regardless, I can't really be upset. I had a nice haul for nothing. I've already read a few. It was a good moment for me. I enjoyed it. That's all that matters.

Bob doesn't hold on to his books for a long time. One thing he like many other retailers do is order much tighter. This means they get the subscribers books, and then depending on the title, 1-10 extra copies. when a store is spending 3-$5000 a week ordering product, you do not consider laying it on a table and giving it away. Additionally, I think without the FCBD logo on the cover it may cause confusion when people are checking out.
What Bob does is every 3 monthes he will donate the books to the military or CHKD. that way he can write them off as a loss or charitable donation to help his taxs at the end of the year.
