Hey, I was looking at DCBS tonight trying to create my next order and I got to looking at Boom! Studios and I found myself being a bit impressed with the style of their work. It wasn't the same old stare down and stupid poses looking back at me. I even seen a couple of legitimate insight covers. And, I seen a few names I recognize too. I've seen you guys talk about a few of these books from time to time, so I went ahead and gave Boom! Studios it's own thread area for us to bring up from time to time.
What do you guys think? Are they a lurking contender who is waiting in the wings to build onto bigger and better things? Or are they really all smoke and mirrors and just a matter of time before they turn to dust too?
I seriously curious what you guys think about Boom! Studios!

Well I highly recommend Irredeemable it's by far Waid's best work ever. It's about a Superman-like hero who goes rouge and is destroying the world and a group super-heroes trying to stop him. I've read the first two TPBs they're really really good.
My only two concerns are: 1) It's an on-going series, IMHO this should be a maxi-series because it has potential to become boring after a while.
2) I hope Waid doesn't do "the villain possessed hero" revelation (similar to what Johns did in Green Lantern: Rebirth) because that would make the whole series totally pointless.
There is a spin off called Incorruptible which is about a super-villain trying to become a super-hero, I haven't read it yet.
Darkwing Duck: The Duck Knight Returns is a 3 issue mini-series starting based on the Disney cartoon show (if you get a chance WATCH it! It's really funny and really good) in July.
They also published or are still publishing Die Hard: Year One, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Scrooge McDuck, Cars, Toy Story, The Muppets, Hero Squared, Planetary Brigade and several other titles.
They have one of the widest and most diverse lines, from Disney properties, prequels to R-Movies, to mature superheroes, super-hero satires, to adapting literature.

I don't read much of their stuff, but Irredeemable is solid stuff. Also, Incoruptable is a tie in book that deals with the villain of the other titles main character. He basically has to become good to stop the rogue hero. kind of a cool twist. I agree it should just be a maxi series also. Its basically a what if... story with a Superman clone.
