I generally like most of Miller's work. I think he's great writer and an OK artist.

I count myself among his fans. I like his layouts and use of shadows (noir). I do not care for his writing which I feel leans towards misogyny. df1

I've never really read much of his work because he typically did things I wasn't never really interested in. As far as his art, I think he started out pretty awesome and has gotten kinda sloppy over time. He is/was great with shadows and moods and could put it together and shine when he wanted to, but too often lately in the last few years, his work just doesn't look good to me anymore. It's almost like with his art, he's riding on the coattails of his own name.

His artistic ability is still there when he wants to utilize it. As far as his writing goes, Considering he is firmly planted within the Noire genre, It makes sense that he is a bit mysogenistic. that is how the old pulps were. He does have very solid Ideas though. RONIN for example was a really great sciFi that was directly responsible for Samurai Jack. some of his stuff is iffy, for example I hated Dark Knight Strikes Again when it came out. But I got the ABSOLUTE DARK KNIGHT for $20 and read it again and actually enjoyed it much better than the original.

I love Miller's work on Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, All-Star Batman and Robin, and Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Back. In fact I have two signed and numbered versions of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns in a security case and have given intructions that be buried with me. One is a Graphitti Designs and the other is the slip-cased 10th Anniverasy edition.
