I've got to say I'm a big fan of Proboards and the ability to use their message board forums for free has been a great experience for me. But lately I've noticed a few things that I wonder if they are only happening to me or are other people noticing it as well?
This seems to be coinciding with their make over look and with their just recently posted terms of conditions. Their own site has been redesigned and given a more modern appearance. They seem to be a constantly improving program working on both the boards abilities as well as improving their own image.
But lets face it, they allow us free board usage for affiliate marketing advertising. In hope that some will click on the advertisements and create revenues.
Lately, I've had numerous instances where I tried to get on the board and it told me the "server was busy" and I was locked out for periods of time.
I also just tried to post a message and a pop up advertisement positioned itself write over the text area I was trying to type to. This was particularly disturbing, because while there may be some very small chance I might visit an advertisement on the appropriate placement (namely up top) if the image or text appears interesting enough. There is absolutely NO CHANCE I'll visit a site where it pops up over my text box for writing a new post. I feel this is just bad PR and I'm hoping it was just a one time glitch and it doesn't start happening to everybody. Because I'm sure pop up advertisements will do nothing but chase users away.
I'm curious both from users of my board as well as other admins operating their own Proboard's message board. Have any of you guys noticed an uptick in minor problems lately? Anything more or different than what I'm mentioning? As well as have users noticed any user problems getting to the board or using it as desired?
I'm hoping this is just a rough patch. But it seems like the last month or so, I've had more instances than usual of minor bugs and irritations. Please let me know if you are experiencing issues as well.
