I haven't seen a lot of Romita Sr.'s art but what I have seen is good, maybe not the greatest, but always good.

His impact is still felt on Spiderman to this day. I think Sr. is one of the most underrated artists from his era. He's not celebrated as much as other artists, but his work was top notch during his day. I agree his impact is still felt today. He was the perfect replacement when Ditko dropped the series.

Romita was exactly what Marvel needed. He had to learn the action stuff from Kirby, but his art is prettier than Kirby's in ever instance. I think he used to draw Romance comics regularly for Marvel. There was a good interview with him on one of the Marvel DVD's as a bonus feature. df1
