Just one tribute link of many: www.geocities.com/Area51/Nebula/8650/Jim Steranko was for me an artist that when I seen his work, it was so different than most already out there. He seemed like a cross between Kirby and John Buscema and topped with some LSD. He has been noted as the Surreal Artist and I think for good reason. His drawings are psychedelic and mind bending, warping reality creating a unique landscape for comic characters. Unfortunately, what seemed to be missing more than anything else is a nice body of work. After his brief run of work in the late 60's and early 70s it has been hard to follow what Steranko did next and throughout his career. If anyone can explain Sterankos more recent appearances in comics or comic related material, it would be appreciated. However brief though, I still feel like Steranko had some cool pieces and deserves mention among the greats.

The page with Bucky and the shrouded figure shows starkly Steranko's influence - compare his use of shadows to the Sin City work by Miller.
I too wish there was a body of work to really get into, but as he has gotten older his comics work seems more an more infrequent, which surely can only be down to his choice given his apparent popularity. I love the covers he contributed to Red Cricle's the Fly book, which I only recently happended onto.
