Well, when you originally mentioned the silver age, I took that to mean that these characters were an offshoot of the Silver age.
I didn't realize that you meant the format of how defalco was writing the books.
I read a few of the early MC2 issues, but honestly I am not a fan of Defalco.
While the character can carry a book and I do not doubt that, It comes down to how many issues are being purchaced monthly.
In that category I know that it was a small number. when you have that type of business its all about dollars and cents.
The series was not in top 100, but then again neither is
Luke Cage despite Marvel's big push for the character and Bendis writing it.
1) And what situations would that be? He becomes a full time Avenger? So he can date and sleep with other women and get caught in love triangles?
Norman Osbone is somewhat "sane" again (at the end of
The Final Chapter he was a reduced to drooling and babbling nut), Harry Osborne comes back from the dead and him and Peter are roommates again?
Other than Jamerson becoming the mayor of NYC there really isn't nothing new out of the whole
Brand New Day crap in terms of new situations that didn't happen back in the 70s.
2) Which then begs the question: Why did Queasda allow it too happen? Which makes the whole thing seem pointless and a waste.
How I would end it BND would be once Peter and MJ remember what happened, they trick Mephisto into letting them out of their deal and he does while BND did happen, Aunt May is alive and well and the world for the most part forgets that Peter is Spider-Man (except for heroes like Steve Rogers, Nick Fury, Iron Man, Daredevil, and Wolverine who already knew prior to this mess or they could easily figure it out). As Peter and MJ try to pick up the pieces of the marriage and they decide to go out for a night on the town, and everything is going great until they pass cop arresting a carjacker who's trying to escape, the carjacker grabs the officer's gun and the gun goes off and MJ gets her brains blown out the cop arrests the carjacker (who's just a normal human being he's not a member of a cult, super-villain). A grieving has an intense nightmare of MJ in hell and begins to suspect that she might be there with the Dr. Strange he travels to hell and finds out that MJ's soul is indeed in hell, and Peter tries to fight Mephisto but gets his ass kicked and sends Dr. Strange back to MU. It looks like all is lost when an angel appears and tells Mephisto that since he let Peter and MJ out of the deal he has no claim on her soul, and that MJ is only there because she thinks that she deserves to be in hell, and once she realizes this both her and Peter are freed, but Mephisto curses MJ's soul that she can NEVER return to the mortal world and if she does it would bring about the Apocalypse.
Mary Jane tells Peter that he has to let her go and he finally accepts it, but Peter asks the angel if he can escort her to the Gates of Heaven so he could see his Uncle Ben, the angel agrees and the 3 are standing outside the Gates of Heaven, the angel reveals himself to be Uncle Ben. Peter and MJ say their final goodbye and as Peter is leaving he tells MJ to tell their daughter that he loves her and one day he'll see her and Ben replies that his daughter is not there and is still alive. MJ makes Peter promise that he will find her and raise her.
Peter wakes up next to MJ's headstone and begins looking for his daughter.
That's how I would end
Brand New Day.
