There's probably a CGC board here somewhere. Doesn't look like I was smart enough to find it, though. I finally got my first big batch I sent to CGC graded. They haven't been shipped back to me yet though. Out of 51 books I had prescreened for 9.8 or better I received 37 9.8s and 1 9.9. The 9.9 is X-O #11. I was expecting about 50 % 9.8, so I'm happy to have topped that mark.

The strangest part of this was I sent four books off I thought had no chance at 9.8 and they all got 9.8. They were definately nm or better, I just didn't see them as 9.8. I'm glad I sent them as they're pretty nice modern books.

Wow! You cant beat that. I've sent off books before and thought they usually got graded about what I thought, but there have been a few I thought they were just slightly hard on. So, if you get them back and they are better than what you expected, you got them on a better day! Yeah, I never have created a CGC section. I might have to. I guess the nearest place would be the "Online Auctions and Conditions" area. I'll add it soon and then move this over there. Don't worry about it. If I didnt create it, no need to worry. And even so, I need the posts anyway! So I'm not worried.

CGC has finally shipped my books. The estimated time for them to have modern books before shipping them back is 20 business days. It was around 40 business days on my batch. I'm hoping they all arrive back in undamaged cases. I'm anticipating doing real well with these.

I don't completely trust their grading. Also, I think the more money you spend with them the more they turn out better grades for your stuff.

Can't say I disagree with this, but I'd would say its probably wrangling over .2 or .4 of a grade that this difference may come into play. Although I do have 1 or 2 9.8's that I would swear is around a 9.2 and vice versa, I have some 9.2's that look like they should at least be 9.6's. I dont exactly know what they saw that downgraded them. I think the fact that their guidelines aren't published is concerning on these matters or remarked on the label. CGC labels would educate as well as be a service, if they provided both a grade and a rundown of the defects in brief on the label.
