I read the the first The Walking Dead TPB and while I liked it, I also knew this is a series that if I read more of it I would become bored with it, and in the end I would probably hate it. The same thing happened to me with The Sandman. I think the hype surrounding this book is too much for me. I can take zombies in small doses every once and while, but when I have to put up with crap like IDW's Infestation crossover event which is basically G.I. Joe, Star Trek, The Ghostbusters, and The Transformers vs. zombies from an IDW series called Zombies vs. Robots, I have to draw the line.
Badass vampires I love. Whiny emo Vampires I hate. Werewolves, ghosts, demons, ghouls, goblins, and other "horror" monsters depend on the story and how it's done.
IMHO Y, the Last Man on Earth is a far better than The Walking Dead and it was sad day for me that I had to stop buying the book because I started of my personal boycott against DC due to Dan DiBio's continued presence at DCE.
I know that one day I'll buy it the deluxe hardcovers of it though.

Walking Dead and Y the last man are both great post-apocalyptic books for entirely different reasons. Walking dead doesn't focus on Zombies that much. They are there, but maybe for 1-5 pges of a given issue. which is good.
That other book you just described doesn't sound at all interesting.
