At first I read what you posted. Then I realized a lot of my response would have been said before. Then I realized the thread did have me saying it already. That's the reason I made the comment about it being an old thread. df1 All I know is, if I don't say anything, nobody does. So I guess I feel like I need to say something. So rehash, whatever. Its better than seeing 9 days since a post. I always feel like the output I get is directly proportional to my input, so I tried to bring a few things up. These moments come and go. I guess it came. It's sure to leave me again soon. Sometimes I feel like I've done thought of just about every angle and topic there is to cover in comics. So, rather than banging my head trying to come up with a new one. I just decided some of these older ones weren't quite beaten to death. Rehash is better than quiet to me. Nope, this is NOT a bitching post or a Whining Post. Nope. Could give a fuck really. I have a hell of a lot going on at this very moment. But occasionally I do like to make attempts to drum something up. Sometimes I just feel responsible for attempting things at times. All valid reasoning. The traffic bump you got from Whetteon linking here hasn't pulled in any mew members. df1

MaxiMage #1 Yes, I bought this new. This is at a phase where I liked the coloring on Rob Liefeld's comics. The increased palette available to comics was not inherently a bad thing. Unfortunately, over time the increased palette of colors has been abused. Too often, modern comics have an excess of colors not found in nature. Everything glows and crackles. I pretty much abhor the look of modern coloring and it has been used to replaced the details once added by pencilers and inkers. df1

Ill admit Liefeld's art did appear more appealing because the colo rcombos used on his characters made them appear to pop. Maybe it has something to do with how bad and undetailed his art was the coloring may have compensated to a degree his lack of talent. The coloring improved his art whereas a highly detailed artist when digital coloring is added it may actually take away from or even distract. Making it look painful to us while Liefeld appears more like polished crap. The fact is current coloring doesnt really make anyone look like they are shining. Instead it makes the shitty look a bit better and those with talent it looks like it takes away from. What remains is an across the board mediocrity with candy coated colors that give an air of everything looks the same. We had more range with traditional coloring. Nowadays we have mass produced sameness much like McDonalds hamburgers.

IU'm not even so sure that the good artist even know what it is to be a good artist anymore.
