Captain America, Bucky
Daredevil, Black Panther
Dumb Hulk, Smart Hulk, Red Hulk
Too many versions of Batman to know who you're looking at without studying the uniform.
Various versions of Superman
Robin, Flash, Ultimates, Earth-Whatever
The thought of parallel universes and earths don't bother me too much. But constantly trying to figure out who I'm looking at and what their storyline is compared to their other earth counterpart is too confusing. I don't even know who Batman is anymore. I've gave up trying. Somewhere along the line Batman Inc became a good idea. Seeing heroes die to be replaced with another version of themselves wears old with me. I'm not so much in love with the uniform as I am with the complete character. Switching identities makes me care less, adds confusion and makes me feel cheated for caring about the original character. I would personally rather see NEW characters who crash and burn than to take the character I love and make them someone I don't know.
Here's another bitch and another rant from me. Yes, comics evolve and change and so on. And yes, in SOME instances it CAN be good to switch a character up and make him into someone new. But I've gotten to the point where I look at characters and they don't resemble anything I grew up with or even cared about as little as 10 years ago. Its gone too far.
Leave my characters alone.
Give them great storylines. Don't reinvent the wheel.

Yes, that is pretty much true for any subject you no longer care about.

I consider it a waste of time. Well, that's my gripe. It IS a waste of time. If I can't look at Batman and think....this IS Batman and I have to wonder just WHO is THIS Batman? Then I'm wasting my time. Sure, there are die-hards who have it all figured out and wonder why the fuck I can't keep up. But on the other hand, for so many damn years Batman was Bruce Wayne. I don't know who the fuck Batman is anymore. All I know is I look on the emblem on his chest to try and get a clue.

They keep buying this crap. The only thing they are selling you is the character name (or a derivative). df1

It just seems like some collectors like the abuse and confusion. They keep buying this crap. Once again I'm not so sure that the creators are listening to what the sales numbers say. I've seen just about every comic I like turned into something it isn't or didn't used to be. At the same times sales numbers are continuously dwindling. Things like this drove me insane.... Captain America being replaced by Bucky. Daredevil replaced by the Black Panther. Fantastic Four having Johnny Storm die and even worse, replaced with Spiderman and some gay ass uniforms. Having literally 15 Batman comics to choose from a month. I honestly wanted to like a lot of them but nearly every time they felt dry as hell. Even worse, I got tired of wondering who the fuck THIS Batman was. I think comic fans buy it because they have to buy it if they want to continue collecting comics. Do you remember all this chaos back in the 80's? The worst I remember was Tony Stark being replaced as Iron Man by the black guy. What was it? Rodney? I forget his name. You know at one dose at a time, these changes can be tolerated. But when you're buying a comic universe and none of them resemble who they used to be all at one time. You because disenchanted with the characters. I think the message the sales number deliver is it's not working. Fans don't like it. But these companies keep dishing it out. The companies just don't listen to what the numbers say. Now we can look forward to DC revamping the entire lineup. I think the fans are getting punch drunk. I haven't made an order in over 2 months now. I miss not placing my order for comics. I miss not expecting an order to come in. But in the end I don't miss getting disappointed with what arrived. Let me cast my vote of confidence to the comic publishers by taking my hard earned cash away from them.

Let me cast my vote of confidence to the comic publishers by taking my hard earned cash away from them. There is a delay between the creation stage and publishers seeing the end result. The delay is even greater because a lot of the people ordering comics are so burnt out that they don't read them. They gamble and order agressively on certain key titles until they realize they were stuck with extra stock. Publishers also jerk the consumers and retailers around by producing variants. Publishers have no idea how many readers they actuallly win or lose because they see bumped up orders from their incentive offers. A stupid decision now doesn't start to show in sales figures for another six to nine months. There are so many stupid mistakes being made that they are layered on top of each other and they result in fans getting frustrated just like you are and I was. They need to just stop all the tweaking and trying to boost sales with gimmicks so they can get a feel as to whether they are actually building and losing readers. They need to focus on building characters as opposed to destroying them. df1
