What do you consider your high water mark in comic purchases this year? It doesnt have to be anything extraordinary, it just has to be what impacted you the most this year. Me personally, once again. I felt I had a rather down year in terms of comics. I was cruising right along purchasing things 1 after another but came to a near complete halt around July and remained that way the rest of the year. My highlights arent too high. Perhaps finally getting a Captain American #100 after owning 101-105 for quite some time. Getting a real nice Wonder Woman #200 was also high on my list of books purchased this year. I have tried getting more and more of the Wonder Womans in the last year or 2. After thinking they sucked for years, I suddenly started liking them. Bagging another very, very nice Captain Marvel #32, which has one of my all time favorite covers with Cap and Thanos drawn by Starlin in some of his most famous time pieces An absolute grade worthy Amazing Spiderman #316 which I think should be treated as a moderate key as it has Venom's 1st REAL Awesome cover! And finally, my Charlton collection had some nice additions to it which I absolutely love getting when they're in good shape. Its not getting the Charltons that is so exciting. Its the ones in good shape that is exciting. See, nothing really special that I got. Mostly run of the mill stuff. But I always feel like you just keep adding stuff like that and before too long you got something. Well, that's the way Ive been going at it now for nearly 30 years. So hopefully by now, I have a little something. How about you? What was your best purchases of the year? Should be pretty easy to blow mine away.

It was a small year for me. The best thing I got was a Justice League Of America #12 from Joey. He had a bunch of old DC comics I wanted and I settled on this one. It's in really nice condition too. Of course I got it at a nice price too. THANKS JOEY!! It features the 1st appearance of Dr Light. He has been a somewhat important character in the past few years in the DCU. He had some cool Batman books I wanted too. I just couldn't get them all.

Comic Book Guide for the Artist·Writer·Letterer 1976 revised edition.
I haven't been looking for anything though..

Well, welcome back to the comic collecting club my friend!!! That's one sweet book! I have to say a few years ago, I started collecting Conan's. I mean, they are a rather top tier or high B grade character (275 issues can attest to that!). And, they were so dirt cheap! So, I started buying them when I seen them. I probably have about 70 - 75 of the 1st 100 issues. Ive enjoyed getting them a great deal. The BWS issues are just plain awesome! #1 has always eluded me. I came oh so close to owning one like 2-3 times now. And I always regret not having one. If I end up getting a #1, that would make me hurry up and finish my 1st 100 issues. Anyway, great pickup C !!! Keep it up, I rather enjoy having you collecting comics more than you not collecting comics.

I was just fed up with all the car bills I had. I figure I'll look back on my collection in a few years and think.... "Hey..... cool.... I didn't know I owned that. " It happens all the time. I sold almost all my Conan comics awhile back. This will be the only one I keep. cfs

My best books this year were Golden Age Nedor's and Better Publishing war covers. I've been eating them up when I find them in fine or better. And of course I sold a few of them for 50% markup. It's been crazy fun.
But if I had to pick out a single book then it would of been Catman 31. That cover rocks. It's a whole different feel from anything else in that era.
Next pick would be my Adventure 46 that's cgc graded. I paid $900 for it (most expensive purchase ever by a scale of 4x). But it's just so nice to have it in my collection. I currently have it listed in my ebay store at $1500 with 6 seriously watchers. I'd have mix feelings when and if this sells.

Though I'm incredibly late to this party... I can actually remember my best purchase of '07 (probably due to my lack of purchases in '08.
Pulled from my blog (Oct. 27, 07)... My best purchase was: ----- So, I was at one of the local comicbook stores... looking to purchase Marvel's Omega the Unknown (which I'll review, once I figure out what the hell happened in the issue... very odd story, to say the least)... and the workers were sorting thru some comic collections they took in on consignment.
This is where I found the first 13 issues of MiracleMan for $19, and the first 28 issues of American Flagg! for $39.
I've NEVER had such a great find... the only thing that could have made it better would've been stumbling across the entire Flex Mentallo!
Perhaps next time... -----

Wow! 1st 13 issues of Miracle Man for $19. I'm sure the American Flag issues were great too, but I don't know anything about them really. The Miracle Man's however, I have a few of those and read up to the point where I have a missing issue (somewhere around 5-7 I'm missing one), that was something I was dying to finish but figured I never would because I'm not willing to pay a high price for them. But $19 for the 1st 13 is an incredible steal!
