Call it your Comic's New Year's Resolution.
What do you want to achieve with your comics in 2009? Is there a missing book or collection you want? Is there an ebay store in your future? Are you going to draw a book or buy some art? What do you feel like you need to do in 2009 that you havent done yet with comics?

1st off, I've got to get my priorities in line and get back in the ballgame of life. That has to be the #1 priority for me. But once I accomplish that, I do have aspirations about comics. This is the 3rd year in a row where my comic collecting has died off in the 2nd half of the year. This year, it was really a necessity more than anything else. I need to reverse that. I'd like to have a whole year where I do very well collecting comics. I think this year was close. For 10 months, I was in the game with comics and I personally enjoyed this year more than maybe the last 5. But truth is, it tailed off. Having to let my subscriptions go was a big bummer as well as not being able to comic shop either. But, to be honest, since I did quit my job, I have shopped for comics twice. I've also just re-opened my ebay store. So regardless, maybe this year I was involved the whole year to a degree. Next year looks to be the 1st year in 4 where I start slow. Im hoping by mid year Im able to get back in the game and come back full force. I'd really love getting my subscription service going again and back to comic stores and shows. I'm going to put a damper on my expectations for 2009. When I wrote last year about what I wanted to do in 2008, I wanted to go gangbusters into 2008. This year, my expectations are more reserved for obvious reasons. But, I'm going to make a full effort to get it going again. And hopefully when Decemeber 2009 rolls around and it's time to make a post about 2010. Hopefully I'll read this post and 2009 will turn out to be better than I expected.

Any leads on getting a new "bigger and better" job? I've been meaning to finish reading a book title "fired up". It is about people who leveraged getting fired into something much better. I know you weren't fired, but I still think you can leverage this into something much better.

It's that time of year again....
Something about year end always makes me reflect. I'm just that kind of person. So in the coming days I'll be putting up my usual (3rd annual at this point) 2009/2010 "best of", "worst of", "your goals" type of threads so I hope you'll think back on your year of comic collecting and remember your best and worst moments of the year as it related to comics and share them with the rest of us.
As I read this thread knowing I was getting ready to do this, I find I didn't meet my expectations for 2009. In fact, 2009 will be the biggest dud year I've had since I got back into comics in 2001. But I think ever so slowly, things are getting back in order for me and the future is looking a bit brighter. So I'm not too disappointed to sacrifice this year for hopefully better times down the road. Still, it's a whole lot easier to run a comic message board when you've personally been involved with it yourself. I think all in all I'm leaving 2009 better than I started it. So, I won't get too upset about my hopes as they appear above in this thread. As I said, I had higher priorities to worry about first.

I plugged away at my comic buying goals and picked up a few rarities along the way. It all stopped midyear when I resumed seeing the girl I'm in love with. Women always were a greater priority to me than comics. I quit collecting in 1983 or 1984 when I was dating, so this slowdown now is nothing different. I wouldn't even say organizing my comics is a high priority. I plan on doing something to get them in order next year, but it's not something that I will dedicate a lot of resources to doing.
