It can be a bad story you read. A book you accidently damaged. A comic you didnt buy and wish you would have. A big let down somewhere in the realm of comics. What was the worst comic moment you had in 2008?

I guess the worst comic moment for me this year is having to give up my DCBS mail order subscriptions. I must admit, I really loved this service. Getting books at a nice discount from cover price delivered to my door month after month was a really great thing. I felt more in tune with comics this year as far as current stories than I have in 15 years. Yes, I still had a lot to know and learn, but some of the haze was disappearing and I was getting a bit of a realization of what was the big things happening. It was fun getting to know new comics again. I will say this, when I get a new job and money flowing again, my gift to me will be to get that mail order going again. In terms of comics, I would have to say the worst comic I read this year was Secret Invasion #2. What a piece of garbage that was. I would say it was embarrassing for Marvel. It was so bad, I never cared one more second about anything to do with Secret Invasion after that. Another disappointment was buying a Millie the Model Annual (don't laugh) which looked like it was in a solid VG+ condition for like $3 thinking I just got a semi-hard to come by silver age book at Heroes Con for a respectable price and discovering later that essentially about 5 pages were ripped out of it. Making the book worthless.

Hey all,
New guy here... My worst moment of the year would have to be starting to enjoy manga a WHOLE lot more than anything Put out by the big 2 this year. DroPPed the majority of my Marvels and all of my DC's in favor of what I feel is better reading (at least at the moment).
By the way... is there any way to turn off the "Comic Checklist" function when I Press a lowercase "P"?

Anyone else been having this problem? I know no one else has said anything about it and Ive never experienced the problem myself. So I wouldnt know where to begin to fix it. Anybody else have any ideas?

I have no interest in Manga whatsoever. I'm not saying they aren't capable of good stories and worthy comics. They are. I just cant deal with the Art Style and sorry, I've never seen a Japanese superhero I cared about as much as an American one. In fact, Superheroes seem pretty rare in that genre. Making adults look 12, just aint my bag.

Worst moment in 2008: Dan DiBio didn't get fired from DC.
Not being able to get an issue of Transformers: All Hail Megatron or The Fallen Angel from IDW.

No offense taken, manga definitely isn't for everyone... heck, I hated seeing the stuff take over some of my local shoPs. You're right about the suPerheroes... there really aren't many (any?). I'm still in the same comics funk I was several months ago... just can't find the oomPh to head to my LCS to Pick uP X-Men anymore (maybe when the heroes don't have to comPete for attention with the creators this will change)... however, I'll head to the used book store for the latest Crying Freeman or Dr. SlumP.

By the way... is there any way to turn off the "Comic Checklist" function when I Press a lowercase "P"? Are you saying every time you hit a lower case "p" the checklist comes out??? I think I remember you saying that a long time ago. But as far as I know, you are the only one who has ever reported that type of problem. Is that still the issue? I have no idea why. I ask my moderator if he can figure it out. I've even considered adjusting or moving link material elsewhere. I like having the checklists, but Im not sure anyone uses it. If no one does, I may have to adjust it.
