I'm not surprised by this. Other than new lead characters, it didn't look like this movie offered anything new. Kind of a seen it before kind of feel when viewing the previews. I really think Tobey Maquire was a great Peter Parker. He was believable, nerdy, underdog. He seemed like Peter. I haven't seen the new guy Andrew Garfield, but the few snippets I have seen, I already don't like him as much. He looks more smug and preppy. Just doesn't seem the same. Regardless, I'll probably eventually see the Amazing Spider-Man some years from now and learn to like it. I just seen Spider-Man 3 last week and really enjoyed it. However, I'm not surprised with the below article that the new movie was the lowest opening gross of the 4 movies. It's hard to want to see this one if you ask me. Spider-Man less amazing now than the first 3 timeswww.wwtdd.com/2012/07/spider-man-less-amazing-now-than-the-first-3-times/‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ easily won the weekend box office (it helps to open Monday at midnight and have a 6-day opening “weekend”) earning $75 million in it’s first 3 days ($140M total), making it a huge success by any standard. Unless your standard is the other Spider-Man movies, from the trilogy that ended just 5 years ago, because ‘Spider-Man‘ earned $115 million in it’s first 3 days. ‘Spider-Man 2‘ made $130 million, and ‘Spider-Man 3‘ topped them both with $151 million. The re-boot made $40M less than the lowest one, despite the advantage of higher ticket prices on 3D (which accounted for 44 percent of sales) and IMAX (which accounted for 10 percent).

I couldn't say it any better G. I feel the same way you do. I don't see myself paying to see this one.

Going to see it today at a matinee. I had my worries as well, but I know enough people with pretty decent taste in movies that have seen it and enjoyed it. The only complaint they really had was the design of the lizard.

The movie turned out to be a pretty good spidey film. It may have been closer to the comic than the Raimi movies. Garfiled much better embodies Peter than Tobey ever did. My big complaint is that they need to get off of the repeated origin film bullshit. These characters do not need to be reintroduced anymore. There are multiple generations of people who have encountered them in some capacity in their lives already.

Glad to see Gwen. Did not like the casting for Gwen. Wish Spider-Man would quit wearing half his costume so much.

Apparently I never wrote a review for this after I seen it. It did turn out better than I thought ir would judging by the previews but I done forgot a ton of it to mention and remember what areas I didnt like. I agree with Defianf1 about the casting of Gwen and the new Spider-Man, Peter Parker was nicely done. I do think I found some aspects lacking but all in all it was okay. I wholeheartedly agree with bigw that the origin storyneeds to stop being told.

Hollywood cannot seem to get away from the Origin story. Well, the new marvel films are moving beyond it. I liked Gwen. The girl is hot and a good actress. Garfield actually talks like a new yorker which is a plus actually.

Garfield actually talks like a new yorker which is a plus actually. I was reading the series right before Gwen died. Gwen was the perfect girlfriend and made the comic enjoyable. I hated it when thry killed her. It pretty much ruined the book for me. The movie Gwen is okay, but it's not the fun happy Gwen I liked in the comic. I'm tired of Superheroes running around without their mask so they can get face time for the actor. The last one was okay, but I'm sick of origins being retold. df1
