I've seen most of the movies. I think Avengers was most true to the characters in the comics. I have a problem with all of them, but they are all better than what Marvel is doing in the comics.

Not too surprised on this one. Figure they gotta create a stir somehow... nobody's interested in the Fantastic Four. Guess best thing to do is not make a scene out of it, maybe then they'll try to stop pissing us actual comic fans off. Hopefully this won't be reflected in the actual book... but Marvel isn't exactly known for NOT movie-adapting-and-star-fucking. Guess we'll see. I guess later on today I'll have to pop over to Robot6 to get the FOXNEWSFOXNEWSFOXNEWSFOXNEWSFOXNEWSFOXNEWSFOXNEWSFOXNEWSFOXNEWSFOXNEWS!!!! view on it. I'm sure their "enlightened" comments section will be good for a laugh. To me Fantastic Four has one of bigger libraries of stories and villains to choose from. Its almost completely untapped. And whatd been done so far has been weak and unimaginative considering the possibilities. Personally, if you wanted something exciting and visually stunning to create interest, Id like to see them tackle something where they would have to travel to the negative zone. Instead they play the race card. I dont care how well people say it is, Fantastic Four was one of my favorite titles and largest collections. It stood the test of time and for long periods it read better than most and they are going to spend millions of dollars to make this and mock the legacy and it's fans by making Johnny Storm black? That's the gimmick to put people in seats? Sorry, I'm fine being racist on this issue.

Just saw the actor say "people will go see it anyway". I'm thinking I won't. df1 What a cocky jackass! I hope he goes down as one of the worst castings in comic movie history.

This is one of those moments, wherein it feels like we're experiencing something that will be mocked/slighted/looked at as a mistake in the future... These moments used to be few and far between (Heroes Reborn/gay Rawhide Kid stunt/Ron Zimmerman, Chuck Austen and Frank Tieri writing most of Marvel's line in the early 2000's) ... now, between new Ghost Rider and black Johnny Storm, we're getting them week to week. Feels like we need a time-capsule for this kinda shit now

I'm wondering how Disney would deal with an implosion of Marvel's popularity. Obviously, they've leveraged the Marvel earnings to buy Star Wars & Indiana Jones. At what point do people get tired of the characters being abused and simply quit spending money on the product? Currently, I'm sure they are very pleased with their results financially. I'm really thinking they may consolidate their assets more and if so, publishing and multiple movie studios may not be the way they want to run efficiently.

I think Disney has diluted the characters to be more in line with their own family friendly lineup. The grit is gone. To the average lay person I doubt it looks like it is with all the successful movies theyve had. But what would happen if they put out a couple of bombs real fast? It doesnt take long for the general public to stop caring. Marvel struggling again might be a good thing in the long run considering how crappy the characters are being treated now.

Guardians of the Galaxy looks horrible to me. df1 Guardians was a very odd choice for a followup to the Avengers family movies... I'm not totally sure what they're thinking here. During the Marvel NOW! push last year they added Iron Man to the Guardians of the Galaxy... I figured that was so they could cram him into their movie... doesn't look like he'll be in it (perhaps in one of the post-credits bits that they seem to have a hard-on for these days). Well, stranger things have happened... I'm pretty sure the Blade film was a huge hit... maybe GotG will fare well too. Not gonna see it, mind.

I think it was their venture into more comedy which is a mistake in my opinion.
