Also for Leon - I noticed you been trying to sway gowaltrip over to Liverpool's way......just a little history on him. He don't like the big teams....he always go for the underdogs. You might have better luck making him a Sunderland or Derby fan. ;D Yeah, that's right leon. Im an underdog guy all the way! I mean, I didnt get to be gowaltrip for nothing. Although I have nothing against Liverpool and Manchester United, I would tend to think they are like the rich kids on the block and I tend to feel sorry for the poor kids. Now, I dont want to take a team that has absolutely no shot of ever winning anything. But, I would like to cheer for a team that has some potential but never really one anything. But, they're scrappy and hungry and have the desire to get there. They just never done it and no one thinks they will. Who would that be?

Aston Villa is sitting at 10th position out of the 20 teams right now. I really don't know what chance they would have, Leon could probably offer more insight on that but they played a nice game today. They had some spurts in their offense but it was more their defense that kept them in that game today. I really like that kid Ashley young too. I heard that he was called up for the upcoming Euro qualifiers, definitely would like to see how he fits in. seems like a nice addition. From what I remember Aston never really finished higher than 6th which was the 03/04 season I believe but they would be my recommended pick just knowing the kind of teams you like. That was a very big win for them today.

I think there is too much internal conflict at Chelsea for them to mount a title challenge, plus their most influential midfielder (Frank Lampard - great at club level, below average as an international in my view) is out for up to a month. Combine that with division between manager and owner, and the way that Chelsea are once more trying to change their formation/playing style, I think they are vulnerable. Plus, I feel that there will be more of a Champions League push. I still think that Manchester United are the team to beat, despite their slow start. It pains me, but I admit that.
I think whoever finishes above Man Utd will win the Premier league. I hope obviously that that will be Liverpool. The only way that will happen is if we can get at least one away win and two draws against the other Big Three (Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United). Man Utd look efficient again, if not expansive in their scoring or finishing. Aresenal look very expansive but time will tell mid way through the season, and they do not like physical games. Chelsea look out of sorts and a bit disorganised to my mind. Liverpool look like they can score often, which they have for a few seasons, creating lots of chances, however this season it looks like we will put away more of those chances.
It looks to be an interesting season.
Welcome aboard, Smuggler!

Aston Villa (Villa, or the Villa for short) could be a good choice - American owner (Randy Lerner - great name!), former winners of the European Cup (early 80's - only 4 English teams have won it: Aston Villa once, Nottingham Forest twice, Manchester United twice, Liverpool - five times!), good past record, especially in the F.A. Cup, but fallen on barren times in terms of trophies, who are playing more attractive football with a well-respected manager (Martin O'Neill) who is genuinely charismatic and able to say publicly when he is at fault, and a burgeoning amount of young British players. Good call, Smuggler.

Leon, I still think Liverpool is looking about the best right now. You're right if they can steal a few away games from the big boys that will surely make a world of difference. I'm still feeling a little shakey about Man U, they just can't seem to finish. We'll have to see when Ronaldo and Rooney comes back. What's your thoughts on the qualifier againt's Israel. I haven't really been following the Euro qualifiers but I plan to watch a little more. Three of them will be shown on FSC on Sat and I'm hoping the England game will be shown on Sunday. Not sure what kind of threat Israel is.

Well I have been away for some time (personal stuff), but just to say liverpool's season has pretty much collapsed, with only the hope of Champions League/European Cup success remaining. If we fail there I think a new manager will be sought out.
I will rant about my thoughts of the reasons for the failure in a future post.
