There's a solicit for a new Batman And Robin #1 written by Grant Morrison for June. Looks like it will be the aftermath of Battle For The Cowl. There are 1 in 25 variants and a 1 in 250 variant as well. I may actually read this one.

I was kind of figuring on ole Azbatx filling us in on Batman since I know its one of his favorite characters. Batman always seems to have a special must have issue that becomes all the rage every time I stop buying it. I never luck out on getting the new ones that become huge buying them off the rack for cover price. Batman always reminds me of my biggest comic collecting blunder of all time. Putting back a whole stack of Batman #608's (at least 15 in my hands) because I opened up the cover and seen the words "2nd printing".

I won't be getting the new Batman and Robin series. I wasn't a big fan of the Morrison run on Batman. I can't stand the art shown for the new series either. Frank Quietly makes everyone look gay. Not only that but what's up with his Robin? Damn that's ugly!

The one or two I do have (I think I have a Superman title he recently did) wasn't too bad in my opinion. I can understand though if that is the way it is for you now. Just kind of weird not seeing you into Batman.

I like the New Batman and Robin book. Morrison is having a good time with it. Its a little more lighthearted than it used to be and that has a lot to do with the dynamic that is in place. Batman is now Dick Grayson. Dick is a bit more optimistic than Bruce was. Robin is Damian Wayne. Bruce's league of Assassins trained son by Talia Al'Ghul. Robin is an 8 year old murderous psycho who thinks Dick is a poor representation of his father. Dick thinks he can change the kid. Quietly's next arc will have them fighting it out with each other.
Regarding Quietlys art; I love it. I mean yeah he makes faces look a little Asian and puffy, but he is more of a solid artist than 90% of those working today. All Star Superman was great. WE3 was a masterpiece from both of them, and JLA: Earth 2 was classic. The work they did on X-Men is considered the best run ever. Except for the Silvestri books near the end.
What I like about Quietly is that his art is so clean and easy looking yet everything looks alive.
Morrison is a great writer. I bought the HC of Final Crisis and read it and it made sense to me more that way than it did issue to issue. Which is how a lot of his stuff is, because he packs in so much story and historic detail into his work.
Detective has also been great. They focus on Batwoman these days and the artist J.H. Williams III uses at least 4 distinct art styles throughout the book which gives it a totally unique look from everything else.
The stories are pretty good also

Upcoming cover by Finch for Batman #700. One of the better static pose covers I seen when I made my new purchase from DCBS. Finch gives a presence to DC when he draws covers. I'm just not sure he has much substance beyond that. I do think this came out pretty nice though, but it's not like we haven't seen this kind of shot of Batman many times before.

Finch does some interesting stuff, but I do not really consider myself a fan. I do not like how he does most faces on men or women. I also am just so over all of the fucking cross hatching shit. sorry to sound so vulger, but the crap is annoying. this is a good Batman piece, but it doesn't feel like DC.

I like his work and I think it looks good. He's pretty tight when he draws something serious, but I also think he's a bit over-rated. When I seen a few of his interior books, I wasn't blown away. He's good for single pictures here and there, but I don't think he is consistently great. Just sometimes.
