Ive been starting to see advertisements for Jonah Hex and at this point I'm not sure what to think. It might be good and it might be real cheesy. I'm hoping it's good. I've never been much on Westerns, but I've always liked Hex. I always thought he was the original badass. He kinda reminded me of a DC version of Wolverine, except once Wolverine got TOTALLY played out, I liked/like Jonah Hex a whole lot better. I'll wait and see how people review it and if its good I'll probably get it on Netflix when it makes it there. I'm teetering when I see this (and other) trailers. I want it to be good, I just don't know... What do you guys think??? I recommend full screening this one. |

In others not interested and I generally like Westerns. |

I think it looks like Ass. It reminds me of that flick Van Helsing. The dynamite crossbows and the gatlin guns destroyed my interest.
As far as Jennifer Fox, she is playing a whore so c'mon what do you expect.

Unfortunately, it looks like you have to go into this movie letting go of some of the realism the book had and let yourself give into the souped up modern looking gadgets back in olden times in unrealistic situations. The part I didn't like was seeing the bird come out of his mouth. When did Jonah Hex ever have voodoo like things going on with him? I must have missed that.
I think if they just left it pure Western with period piece environments and realistic weapons from those days and just made Hex a badass, I think it would have been much better.
All this being said and while there is a lot that bothers me about the movie, I still wouldn't mind seeing it. I think Hex looks pretty cool and when you take away the unrealistic parts, the rest don't look too bad. I know it's asking a lot and from prejudgments here, it might have flop written all over it. So, I'll just wait until it hits Netflix and watch it the ghetto way. I'd rather waste a rental on it than $11.50 a ticket plus popcorn and drinks. As a rental, it might not be half bad.

He never had those abilities that I remember.
This film based on the trailers reminds me of a cross between Constantine, Van Helsing and The Wild, Wild West.
Its disappointing really I would also have much rather seen a cowboy flick of the quality of 3:10 to Yuma than this drek.

As far as Jennifer Fox, she is playing a whore so c'mon what do you expect. It's Megan Fox, not Jennifer Fox (you're probably thinking of that horror/comdey movie she made called Jennifer's Body) and recently she got fired (or she quit depending on whose story you want to believe) from Transformers 3 due to her bad mouthing the director Micheal Bay. She reportly compared him to Hitler and said he was impossible to work with and some other nasty things about him. |
