DF1 you should really check out Mass Effect 1 and 2 they are great games, the comics are good and novels are OK (the first two tie into the games, the third one is weird, and fourth one is coming out). I don't really play video games anymore. The only game console I ever owned was a step above Pong and a step below Space Invaders. Joust was big when I was playing video games in the arcades and my favorite games were things people don't remember... Pulsar, Space Duel, and Sinistar. Most video games aggravate or cause carpal tunnel syndrome in my wrists. I did drop a few quarters in the Tekken machines for awhile, but I sucked at them. The comic wouldn't have any meaning to me because I'm normally not around people who play video games. I had one friend that did, but 5 minutes into a game I had used up all my ammunition at some space station. I had more fun slamming a frying pan against the metal walls to hear the noise it made. He yanked the joystick out on my hands and said I couldn't play anymore. I was laughing my ass off, but he was frustrated that I wasn't trying to play the game. df1

The comic book series stands on its own as a good sci-fi story. The world is very rich.
On the CROSSGEN topic, I picked up the first issue of RUSE. I found it to be a fun issue that drops you right into the middle of a case about to be solved, that is used to re-introduce you to the main characters.
In the original series, the book took place on a planet that looked like victorian England with the exception of living gargoyles. Alos over the course of the original series we discovered that Archards assistant was one of the watchers and actually had powers. On top of being highly intelligent.
The artwork was good, but a few scenes had some flat, unproportioned artwork. WAid delivered a solid story though and I am interested in checking out a couple more issues based on this first one.
Marvel is off to a decent start so far.

I hope Marvel continues to surprise with it. I just didn't want to support another mini series that was leading to nowhere. I picked up a Crossgen book from a dumpster on FCBD for 25 cents. I took it home and checked it out and boy, what a quality comic it was! It was easy to see that a lot of work had went into it and a lot of what I hate about comics was NOT present. I'm still going to go after all the Crossgen's when I see them and if I can get them cheap. They are nice comics for their age and the time period they came out. Unfortunately, with Marvel I just felt like this was a name use and a money grab and its not going to be on the same level and to top it off, its a mini series. I've been avoiding as many mini series as I possibly can because I just can't get into what they represent anymore. But I do hope this turns out to be an enjoyable experience for you. I'd rather it show promise than just totally suck.

I am guessing that they are doing minis to test the water with them. To see how strong the actual interest is before committing to more. Disney owns many of the Crossgen properties and MArvel themselves own the rest. There were a number of solid titles from that company, and you are right, the production is just top notch.
If you are interested, I have a long box of Crossgen. ITs about 8 different series from beginning to end. We can work out a deal for the purchase if you are interested.
