I looked in my wallet and mulled over buying the "one" expensive book I've wanted for the last few years. It was going to cost $31 to have it shipped 2nd day Fed Ex or $38 to ship it 3rd day Fed Ex. I said "what the hell, I don't feel like waiting." I selected Fed Ex overnight delivery for $58. It'll take them longer to get my money order, but I'm hoping to have the book by Wednesday. I've still got a Jetson's digest coming to me. It was a cheap "blind" order. I have no idea what it will look like. I have some (4) King Feature Treasuries coming to me. Those looked nice in his pictures. The seller offered to combine shipping. I hinted that I wanted them to arrive nice, so I didn't skimp on shipping costs. I paid him the full amount rather than combining the charges into a lesser amount. Last but not least, a store had a couple of keys.. the same book... so I bought them. I want more key books... even duplicates if necessary. I guess I am collecting again. I almost order a Marvels of Science #1 but changed my mind. cfs

Wow! 2 1st appearances of Dr. Doom! Nice pickups C! Keep collecting because lately you have been doing really good. Im with you on the duplicates of keys. I think that is where possibilities open up. Say if you wanted to do a trade or sell 1. If you only have 1, you will be reluctant. But if you have 2 or more, you have the ability to trade or sell without it damaging your collection. Id like to have high multiples of certain books. To me its always impressive to see someone with like 20 copies of a real valuable book. At that point you have diluted it to yourself, but others still want it, so you have the upper hand in that situation. That's the kind of situation I wouldnt mind being in.

Wow! 2 1st appearances of Dr. Doom! Nice pickups C! I hope that is a typo. Ditko's Dr. Strange is WAY cooler than Dr. Doom!! Keep collecting because lately you have been doing really good. Yeah, and books like this rarely ever go down in price. Evidently Hellboy's director is being discussed to do a Dr. Strange movie and Gaiman is a possible writer. Not a bad set of credentials to get comic book fans to pay attention. cfs

I type pretty fast (real fast actually)....so sometimes my fingers move and Im not even looking. I guess my eyes didnt noticed what I typed. I typically re-read everything before I post it. But my eyes must have glazed this over. Its nice to have 2 Dr STRANGES and I see on your other board you actually have 3! Good work. I have zero!

I picked this up today at the show in Richmond. A page of original art by Todd McFarlane from Hulk #339. Dealer had it on his table for $200! I imagine it's atleast a $500 piece. We'll see as it's goin up on Ebay probably this week. The normal guys that me and azbatx usually hit up for the good stuff didn't have jack this time. I spent about $50 with one guy on his $1 books and then about $20 more in the room but other than the guy I got the art from it was pretty slim pickins' this time.

I'm not a McFarlane fan, but I ~might~ even buy a page of his art at that price.... especially since it's Marvel. A lot of dealers seem to be selling cheap recently. I think they need cash more than they need the inventory. Got this back today. Not real impressed with their grading. An 8.5 would have been more logical. No way in hell I'd ever accept an 8.0 dollar figure for this book. This came straight off a spinner rack in 1976. It was a nice copy then and it still has white pages today. cfs

Ive always thought that Hansi cover was pretty sweet.
I used to have a lot of those Christian Spire books which a lot of them had some great art in them and sometimes some cools stories even if it was religious, they were pretty cool.
Regretfully, I think I only have 1 or 2 of them today. I have no idea what happened to them. When me and a friend of mine were kids, we used to collect them.
Does anyone remember the real tiny comics they used to pass out. Like Holy Joe, I forget the rest of the names. They were little rectangular paper comics. Those were sweet too. I'd actually love to have a complete collection of both the comics and the little paper comics.

I keep meaning to get to the Richmond show. I have never been to the new location yet. Maybe next time. Nice piece Joey, I have you flip it for a profit. Its cool it has Hulk on it by McFarlane, but as you mentioned before, his art isnt that appealing anymore. If this was done by a lesser artist, It might be a $35 - $50 piece. Since it is McFarlane, good deal and flip away!

Man, I used to have a ton of those. For religious propoganda, they were pretty cool.
