A friend of mine at work (Smuggler actually) went to Disney World and Universal for vacation. Yesterday he brough me 3 Marvel Digest books. They are new and have the stylized nearly manga type art in them, so I dont care for the stories too much. But being a digest, I have not seen these anywhere. I looked on ebay and they was selling for less than cover (which is $5.99 - $7.99), so there isnt no money in them certainly, but I find them a bit unique and the kind of thing you put away for like 20 years and bring it back out, it becomes a...."how many of you have one of these?" kind of thing. Thats when things become really cool. In any event, it was free and nice gift in my opinion.

Thats when things become really cool. Tommy you know better than that! Those 3 little books will get in your way 50 times and you will always look at them and say "why the hell am I holding on to these things" and in the year 2030 they'll be worth $8 each. I trip over stuff all the time that I've held onto forever. When I do a spring cleaning and toss out stuff that I've had for years I just shake my head and wonder why did I put myself through that! I oce it's gone,it's totally forgotten and there's 3 other things that take it's place!!

Damn! Tough crowd. Yeah, I know its crap. But....I cant just toss anything. These are small enough to be bag and boarded. I know it will never be worth anything. Im not looking at it in value. If I could put waterproof dollar boxes in my front yard Joey....I swear I would!

I was unable to find any Tales to Astonish and that is the main thing I was looking for at the show. Nothing mainstream.

If I could put waterproof dollar boxes in my front yard Joey....I swear I would! I have a pretty good knack for acquiring the stuff I won't regret getting. The only exception was when I had a pull list between 1996 & 2000. I was ordering any interesting Image book hoping it would do something... and the were all one shots or dead mini-series. Flashy, but not anything with lasting integrity. I have a little too much stuff from Caliber or Millenium. I'm not sure if i'll end up regretting that because some of it can't be found too easily now. Some is very common and I cringe when I see those. I'm trying to focus on rare interesting stuff. The stuff a lot of people may never see. cfs

Yesterday I received 2 copies of the Bucky O'Hare Hardcover. This puts me one step closer to a complete set of Continuity. The key thing here is that a few years back on my board a member in California wanted to sell people these for $40. I told him it was not worth that much to me. He wandered off and never saw him again. I've been saying that I won't buy one for more than 10 dollars. Other people have been telling me that it's worth more. To me it's not. Michael Golden is not in high demand. This was never a hot comic. There aren't a lot of collectors looking for it. So I held out. About two weeks ago a retailer puts 50 of these up on eBay for $9.99. That was my price, so I bought 2 copies. BTW, it was signed, numbered and limited to 2000. I have numbers 1830 & 1835. It was originally solicited for $40 cfs

Obviously my day has been revolved around my sale of my Harbinger #1. However, I could use a little side divergence and want to feel like my board is still humming along.....slowly....as it always has and posting about comic happenings, whatever they may be. Unfortunately....it has been rather slow today. So, hopefully some posts will come along to fill my mind with different books to think about.
I did want to say to cfs that I did see this book you were posting about and I liked your story and how it turned out you got what you wanted at your price in the end. I know I have seen the character before, but never really realized something like this would be hard to get at a decent price. I would think it would be something I might happen upon in a dumpster dive one day. I must say, that even though its not particularly my style....I rather like it.

It is cool that your patience paid off. I have been trying to get a copy of a CD on Ebay forever. It's by a band called UNIDA. It's pretty hard to come by and has been going for around $50 lately. It used to be about $30.It kills me to have to pay that much for a CD.I've even emailed some sellers and told them I'd gine them $10 for a burnt copy of it.I have it on vinyl, but I haven't got a record player either. I want a copy for the car!!

Today I found 2 copies of a book I never knew even existed. Neil Gaiman wrote a Sweeny Todd comic that originally came with a copy of Taboo #6. It was limited to pre-orders of the Taboo issue. It is 16 pages and is black and white. It is slightly smaller than a regular comic. It was suppose to serve as a lead into a series that would run in the Taboo books but only managed a Prologue in #7. Here is a picture of it. This one is signed on the left, the ones I found do not have the signature.
