Well today is a good day. I just received the first two pages from James Hudnalls script for the comic we are going to do together. I am pretty stoked. This guy won an Eisner award for his Lex Luthor Biography. So I look at this as being my opening to finally getting a shot. I will keep you up to date. Yeah, good luck with that bro! Make sure you finish it! And make sure you show the pages to your friends at Comic Crack!

Yeah, good luck with that bro! Make sure you finish it! And make sure you show the pages to your friends at Comic Crack! Yeah well Hudnalls a pro writer. He has connections at the major companies, He plans on taking this around to some editors and seing what can be done. If it gets picked up, it becomes a job. Which means money. My level of motivation would get the challenge then. There is no rush on it either. I will be designing characters for it first then doing thumbnails. So I have to create a couple of hoods, and a Meth head. Also the main character. Who is a homeless crazy person. Fun stuff. I will be scanning some pages of my comic in the next day or so, so I will be willing to post a couple, They are not action packed though. Just setup pages.

I'm going to post my last attempt to draw something with my character Stingray. I thought I had this posted in this thread, but I don't. It may be somewhere else on this board and I just don't know what it is. I think this was drawn off and on for about 4 years from around 1990 - 1994. I had been out of high school a good 5 years when I started and it became clear to me that my drawing days were about over. So I began to have a desire to want to do one last hurrah with my character Stingray. So I began working on this book where in the end, he along with many others would be killed (original hunh?). While looking back on this now, I know it looks like crap complete with stains and rips and tears, there is still a bit to be proud of here. It really is a lot of work to do something even like this. Another thing I find amazing is I drew most of it in pen, so when I messed up, I messed up. Finally, although not a gem by any means, I thought I had the makings of a good story going on here. I was just about at the point where everything happens and then I inexplicably quit. Why does it always happen like that? Anyway, if you get a chance, try giving it a read. Should take about 5-10 minutes. Tell me what you think. Again, this is my art, from about 15-20 years ago. I know it's scribbly and awful as hell. But hey, this is what I was about at that time. If I had drew it all in pencil and tried taking my time and correcting mistakes, this could have came out a lot better. This is a book I always wished I finished. If you have trouble reading this, remember you can click on each page and then click again and it will expand it to a big size, hopefully making it much easier to read.

Man Franks comics were so dramatic LOL. He would draw a little kirbyish and write like Stan Lee putting all of those zingers in there. Ah nostalgia.
Tommy your stuff looks cool also. you should work on it again. I wouldn't worry to much about if it is perfect or not. I mean its not fair to you to use pro's who's work you admire as a gauge of quality. Hell my friend Bob would always look at my work and give a disinterested look or not really say anything positive. Of course then I found out that he was always using his favorite Artist -Jim Lee- as a gauge to go by. I was like Bob, I can't draw like Jim Lee so thats not fair. Why don't you just look at it as art and then come to a conclusion. After that he realized that h actually liked some of my work.
Anyway, Its cool to see this stuff again. Good memories.

While I'm working throughout the day, I've been tending to pick up my pen or pencil a bit more and have been sketching stuff here and there. Here is one I just whipped up while I was working with a customer. Note that I did this on a scratch paper where I was writing data to assist my customer. I know it got in the way of the picture but I just kept doodling until I pretty much finished it. I know parts of it are jacked up, the eyes, the legs, the right hand and etc. I also have no idea who this character is. I just kept going with it. I know it ain't no bigw piece and it's nothing serious. I just thought in the end, it came out.......okay. I've been considering bringing my comic pages into work and drawing on them throughout the day. See if I can get further on the story I was supposed to do about a year and a half ago. They have a tremendous artist down the row from me. He draws serious pictures. There seem to also be a lot of comic collectors where I work. The scene seems inspiring enough to forget about anyone dissing my work and just doing what I can. It may even help me pass the day. So who knows. Anyway, here is the sketch I did at work....

Printmaster is a better program than Printshop. I have both. Sketch looks cool also. I have nothing to do with either one of those programs. I was helping a customer and I asked what program they were using when they were experiencing a problem (which I don't remember), I wrote down the answer as incriminating evidence to be used towards the customer at a later moment. Thanks for the sketch remark. Even though it is sketchy and a plain pose, I'm rather happy with it to some degree. I'm trying to get up enough nerve to bring a page in and work on it, but I think I will hold out for now and stick with more sketches to pass time.

I know this is lame, but I guess I shouldn't give a shit either way, ya know? Anyway, one good thing about my new job is it makes it almost like necessary to doodle to get through the day. I know I asked bigw to draw a Captain Marvel and after I did, I decided to see if I could do one myself. This is totally out of my head and with no references whatsoever. I know, not hard to believe. Actually, for a head shot, he's pretty easy to draw. I know I jacked parts of it up, especially the hair. I've never been a fan of drawing hair. It's a weakness I'm sure. Anyway, here is something I doodled while I was on the job the other day. There isn't a lot of time into it, but when I was done, I just said....what the hell, I'm gonna put it on my board. Maybe if I keep this up, I'll put a lot more up and maybe slowly I'll start getting better. Now if I can just get BigW to blow this away....
