I've been selling these over and over for various sums as they get sold. A lot of people don't realize that John Carter #18 is the 1st Marvel artwork by Frank Miller. I've known about it for years and have been picking them up from dumpsters for $1 or less ever since. I've gotten as little as about $1.84 on one auction, to as high as $15.85 in others. On average, I usually get at least a few bucks. Considering I have nothing but chump change in all of them, I take it all with glee each time I sell one. You just learned me something. I didn't know. Because of the era in which this title came out, they always catch my eye. I passed on the title then and I still pass on them now. I guess I'll keep passing on them. Interesting tidbit, but I've decided I never was a Frank Miller fan. I was a Klaus Janson fan. Miller just happened to do some nice layouts that made Janson's inking shine. df1

I could care less about stuff like this. I bought it a couple of years ago when I was trying a lot of new comics. It's actually not a bad comic but it's not something I would have collected. Being I bought it from DCBS, I probably paid about $2 for this. I probably should have waited until the movie got closer but I sold it last week for around $5.50 plus shipping. I'm satisfied with that. You did good to sell it. I'm definitely not a Millar fan. If he'd never written a comic, I'd be perfectly okay with that. df1

I grew up loving covers like this and that has never left me. I still love covers like this today. But that is the problem. I find covers like this completely missing from the realm of current comics. This has it all. I can see from a glance an interesting insight about what this comic is about. The jester has a crazy mob ready to hang Daredevil! That alone makes me want to look and buy the comic. Add to it word balloons where he is bringing home the concept that Daredevil will be hanged, something else I miss from covers, word balloons. Oh don't tell me they interfere with the art. I've done seen a million stare down pose covers and I don't think I can stomach one more. Give me an insight cover like this with word balloons and drama before I even open it up and you'll me as a fan for life! I agree. I camn quickly decide from this cover if I'm interested in buying it. I don't have to open it and thumb through it to decide. I own it, so that makes my past decision obvious. df1

Here is another example that I am referring to. I've never been a big fan of Superman, but I thought this cover was kinda nice and colorful. I think I remember reading that DC was going through some troubling times during this period, especially since Marvel had basically dominated the 60's. I think they made more of a push to up their game. Their 60's stuff was often just silly. In the 70's they pushed to be more grown up and dynamic like Marvel was. It's covers like this that attract me to 20 cent DC's. The Superman title always disappointed me. I like Action Comics stories better. df1

I grew up a Marvel Zombie but occasionally I would find my way over to DC and give them a shot. Typically I didn't hang around long but I did try things here and there. Over the years I discovered one area of DC I really love and I tried picking up copies whenever I seen them. I personally think 20 cent DC Covers are some of the strongest covers they ever had. I've just seen too many awesome covers to think otherwise. This would be just 1 example. I was never a fan of Swamp Thing but he did have some peaks and valleys throughout my collecting years. His original run with Wrightson I would consider a peak. This Swamp Thing #7 guest starring Batman to me, is just nice stuff. I would consider this to be peak also. I'm not a DC fan, so I've never really pursued any of these. I have maybe one beat up copy from the run. df1

Not sure how long some of these scans will show as I sometimes have to remove scans to maintain space, but at the suggestion of Defiant1 decided I would from time to time put up a few of my eBay selling scans that I may feel are unique or noteworthy. Starting off is a Patsy Walker #106. I always try and have a broad range of books so I can appeal to as many people as I can and I have noticed over the years that books like Patsy Walker and Millie the Model are not often seen at Local Comic Stores and conventions. So a few years back I decided I would start picking them up here and there if I seen a decent copy at a nice price. I got this one a few years ago for a couple of bucks. I thought it was worth it. I also kind of dug it that she was putting stockings on on the cover. Considering the book is 50 years old, I thought it was kinda racy for those days. Especially when you consider the demographic for books like this was pre-teen little girls. Hmmm! Early Hellcat appearance before she became Hellcat. These always catch my eye, but they are usually not in nice enough condition for me to consider for more than a few seconds. Cool stuff. df1

This is actually a pretty nice copy other than some light chipping around the edges, it didn't have any creases or moderate damage anywhere. I thought it was a solid copy. I go by price and eye appeal and this one had both in my eyes.

I just kinda liked the cover. Superman always bored me because he was virtually unbeatable and just Plastic to me. But I knew he was an icon and there were some collectors out there. So I built a collection of them just so I had some. I basically picked up what I liked and forgot about picking up the rest of them altogether.

Like Superman, I don't have a lot of interest in Batman, but I like him better than Superman. And unlike Superman, Batman's sell easily and often well. So I'm a sucker for anything of decent note. I felt this was noteworthy for being an old Joker cover and story as well as this is only the 2nd 12 cent issue. Otherwise, I think it's pretty silly book and I don't care for it.

Not trying to be stuck on DC but I'm running into their scans quicker and can't overlook this. I did develop a liking for trying to collect older issues of Wonder Woman. Especially nice to have her non-costumed era. This cover to me is underrated. I think the guys name is Jones or something like that. He did a few iconic covers. This is one of them. I love Wonder Woman's tits on this. Not that I perv on comics because I hate it when guys perv on comic characters. But man, that's the way you're suppose to draw them right there. That's good work.
